Sights of the place
Though a small island, Leros has a range of interesting sights to demonstrate. The Archaeological Museum in Agia Marina hosts inscriptions and ancient utilitarian objects. In the Church Museum you will find utensils, books, wood carvings, vestments and paintings. The Bellini Museum, in Alinda, is stunning as it is one of the most beautiful mansions of 1925 in the whole of Greece. The Press Museum features seasonal printing machines and in the War Museum in Meriki, housed in a tunnel, you will find heirlooms and other items from the private collection of John Paraponiaris, from the Battle of Leros during the Second World War.
In the central square of Platanos, is the (lending) Municipal Library. It’s a preservative neoclassical building and hosts rare manuscripts, historical records, codes and books.
